I so enjoyed listening to his thoughts and getting to know the man behind the music. He really is an inspiration.
Here's a little from his bio:
"Mazwakhe Fortune Shinga is an Afro-Soul and R&B singer/ songwriter who hails from Durban. Mazwakhe is also known by his stage name “Mazwi Fortune”...
Mazwi Fortune was born and bred in a small township called Lamontville, situated in Durban South. He had been singing in church since the age of six.
Mazwakhe also served within the South African Army as an engineer (filled sapper) for five years which temporarily put a halt to his music career, however, he is back now and putting all of his energy into his musical side which he is so passionate about and dedicated to.
Mazwi Fortune is also a dedicated member of KUMISA, which is a non-profit organisation that provides a platform for aspiring artists and musicians in Kwa Zulu Natal.
Mazwakhe credits his musical inspiration from the greats of artists such as Hugh Masekela, Youssou N’dour, Zahara, Simphiwe Dana and The Muffins.
Mazwakhe is also inspired by seeing people losing and finding themselves in music and by the power of music.
He is also a talented portrait artist who enjoys sketching and finds himself being inspired daily by the beauty of music and art.
For all of you looking to be inspired and elevated by the sheer beauty of unique music, then you need to experience and feel the talented presence and charisma of Mazwi Fortune and all that he has to offer.
