Earthdance supports many charities around the world by raising funds and awareness, and encourages cross-promotion with other organizations also working for peace, social justice, and environmental sustainability.
This year Earthdance Kzn is supporting Abundance Permaculture Outreach Project, an NPO which seeks to facilitate a move towards self sustainability in KZN communities of South Africa, with the primary aim of providing food security.
"Abundance Permaculture Outreach hosts workshops, seminars, lectures, demonstrations and certified courses on topics related to sustainable agriculture, green economic growth, and community development. We use participatory video and a phased modular approach to facilitate learning. We want to focus on woman and children, with the aim to empower and promote interest in and respect for the earth and its role in providing nourishment and sustainability. Mission: Providing information on building a sustainable future for those who need it most."
Along with Abundance Permaculture Outreach, we will also be supporting Hope Farm, whose mission is to provide support and love to vulnerable children in order that they should be physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy, thereby giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential and become productive and members of society. Hope Farm also assists destitute families in the Embo Valley to grow and produce their own food in an eco-friendly way, in order for them to become self-sufficient in their food requirements.
Kandu Open Food Network SA will be giving a talk in the Chilled Zone - if you're keen to find out more about getting your organic veggies direct from small scale farmers and even selling / trading the surplus from your own veggie garden using the OFN Kandu platform, check it out...
The Green Camp Gallery Project is at the beginning stages of what will be an organic/ sustainable lifestyle hub focusing on creativity in all its forms.
A hub of green rehabilitated art. Using the materials left over from the house and donated material creating beautiful pieces such as a plant growing in a shoe.
“It’s about recycling and rehabilitating old materials so that we show people how the can recycle their ideas, heartaches and challenges and make them useful in life.
Citi-Zen Gardens will be joining Eartdhance again, doing a course for those interested in learning as well as for the local gardeners & farmers in Amatikulu -
Citi-Zen gardens bring peace and tranquility to Urban Areas by claiming eye-sore land-sites and converting them into organic food gardens, which builds the community, spreads awareness of the dangers of monoculture, chemical fertizers and pesticides and genetically modified organism. We promote the idea that food should be local, organic and free of economic value. We empower the people of this world with indignous knowledge, skills and wisdom by teaching of permaculture, companion planting and organic natural farming. A collabaration of guerilla gardeners, horticulturists, traditional farmers building perma-culture projects and protecting our Food Security.
