A Bit Of Rain A Bit Of Sunshine - Parklife Durban 2018

Parklife Durban

What’s a day festival without a bit of rain? Parklife Durban kicked off with a rather moist start this last Sunday, held at the magical venue, Botanical Gardens.

Expecting nothing less than the four seasons in one day Durban has been known to produce, beginning with gorgeous sunshine and the perfect day for a picnic and live music.  Turning dark with massive black clouds, quickly the heavens opened and the downpour began.  However, the rain came and went to reveal blue skies for the most part of the day.

I always love to see the die-hards dancing away in the rain, loving every moment of being free!  The day started off with the Kickstands, a Durban band that has experienced great success with their unique acoustic sets.  First big moment of the day, they did a take on Rodriguez’s 'Sugar Man' and it was it an amazing sound to get the day going.

Majozi has teamed up with a band by the name of Opposite The Other and I must say the collaboration is well put together.  Opposite The Other, an alt-pop band that hails from Cape Town were well received and I would be excited to see them again in Durban.  Majozi serenaded the crowd through the rain and even sang a new song for us…watch this space for more news on that!

Alice Phoebe Lou

Once again, I and the Parklife goers were super happy to see Alice Phoebe Lou perform, her voice is like velvet that cuts straight to the heart! Unfortunately, her drummer had to fly back to Amsterdam the night before, so the crowd was asked to imagine the drums and Alice and her band went to perform a complete impromptu set.  which came together rather nicely.

Goodluck hits the stage and the atmosphere is immediately taken up a notch as Julie delivers a high energy, stellar performance.  They engage well with the fans and we absolutely adore their music.  Next up was a performance you never want to miss, watching these guys is like a whole entire experience.  Desmond And The Tutus, had the crowd screaming with delight as they belted out all our favourite tunes.

Angus & Julia Stone

At long last, Angus and Julia Stone and their band make their way onstage.  The sight of it all is mesmerising.  They begin to sing and you are blown away, their live performance is one hundred percent on point. They captivate you with their laid-back style and it feels like home. It was the perfect way to end off a beautiful and at some points, wet, day.

Thank you Parklife for having UNDERGROUND PRESS and giving us VIP treatment, we love you!
