Founded in their hometown area of Coventry, England, ATTRITION's first performance took place in December of 1980 as a post-punk line up of guitar/bass/drums and vocals. They emerged as part of the early '80's UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Coil, Test Department, Legendary Pink Dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control et al.
Attrition has since come a long way since spanning over 30 years of songs as an electronic based UK act experimenting entirely with soundscapes with sharp vocals and sound bites. Intriguing vocals seep through cracks in walls of machinery and wires. Attrition’s music has also appeared on a number of TV and film soundtracks.
The marriage of classic and modern sound can easily be described as equally intertwined parts of a surrealistic masterpiece that we can without a doubt call art.
Attrition has successfully mixed several genres into one and has toured across the globe successfully including such destinations as, Holland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and a major tour of pre-war torn Yugoslavia ending in Sarajevo. Later in 1996 concluded their first North American tour and much later a grand tour from Boston to LA in a Cadillac, continuing on to New York and a show on Route 66. Since then the band continues to tour, covering 4 continents to date.
Attrition has also shown interest in touring South Africa someday.
Currently, the line-up consists of Martin and his wife, Kerri on keys and backing vocals, frequenting with session musicians.
