Eliezer began in 2010 as the solo project of Cape Town singer-songwriter Lance Herman. The project explores minimal folk music, lyrical songs performed on nylon-string guitar. During 2011-12, Herman was awarded an Artist Fellowship at the Gordon Institute for Performing & Creative Arts, where he activated the project in the form of two music albums Hall of Dream EP and Knots; and along with friends and contemporaries in the film industry, produced a series of 5 music videos, to accompany each of the songs on the Hall of Dreams EP. Eliezer is an ambitious art-folk project. The mood is dark, evocative and surrealist, with song titles such as Thin Bridge, Metamorphosis, and Ship in the Desert. Currently (2013) Herman performs the Eliezer material either solo, or in collaboration with other Cape Town musicians. Recent performances have included trumpet (Lee Thompson), with upcoming shows set to include bass (Daniel Gray), drums (Jono Sweetman). In addition to performing tracks off the existing albums, ELIEZER is gathering a live repertoir of new songs, with a view towards a full length record.
