Laconia, based in Pretoria, South Africa, was first conceptualized in 2007, with a casual meeting between Lizette Mills (ex-Couch Potatoes), Wilhelm Barnard (ex-Grymn) and Dwayne Coetzee (Sacrifist; ex-Serpent Moon, ex-Funeral God). Laconia is unique in the way that their sound is completely untested and unrivaled. The melodic hooks and song structures, combined with the darkness and light of female and male vocals, sets Laconia apart from every band in the market today. Laconia is a Rock Metal outfit, completely new sound and can not be compared to a current SA band.

Somewhere between Lacuna Coil, Paradise Lost and a dash of Metallica and Guano Apes.

Laconia was signed with Reaper Management until recently, and are now booking and managing independently. Thornrose Productions (Bradley Hitchin) has showed interest in signing  Laconia .
Laconia have released a four track EP at the end of May, 2009.

3rd October 2009 - Laconia have just replace Lizette Mills the vocalist with Jess Barnhard.

Laconia's music is mainly composed by Dwayne Coetzee and Wilhelm Barnard, with lyrics written by Lizette Mills. Laconia is currently recording their E.P, with the new-found final members of the band.
