A decade ago, frontman Greg Gonzalez found inspiration during a tough Valentine’s Day. Heartbroken, he drove two hours from El Paso, with Sade’s “By Your Side” on repeat. That emotional day became the seed for the evocative, slow-burn music Cigarettes After Sex is known for.

The upcoming third album, 'X’s,' showcases Gonzalez’s personal experiences, centered on a transformative four-year relationship. Gonzalez describes the album as "brutal," with songs that delve deeply into loss and personal growth. The album also marks a shift in their sound, embracing influences from '70s and '80s slow dance music, creating an ambiance akin to shimmering tears under a disco ball.

Joined by drummer Jacob Tomsky and bassist Randall Miller, Cigarettes After Sex has evolved into one of the most globally accomplished bands of their era while retaining their intimate and mysterious appeal.
