Watch: LO! Premiers New Video 'Bombardier'

Today sees the release of 'Bombardier' by Sydney's harmonic metal act, LO!, taken from the album 'Vestigial' out now on Pelagic Records.

LO! have literally taken heavy music to the next level by being completely innovative, since the release of their video clip to 'ORCA' and showcasing their unique approach to visual arts, LO! have done it again, this time taking this track to a newer ambient height.

Watch 'Bombardier' below!

“Obviously a bit of a different clip for us as it's more of an ambient track but could quite possibly be one of the most intense clips we've made. All the footage was shot on our tour of Japan earlier this year by a filmmaker Will Robertson who accompanied us on the tour. It's a very intense journey of our live performances with the travel and people and scenarios we encountered on the tour. The track is powerfully sombre and I think shows the ferocity and rawness of a Lo! live performance.”bassist Adrian Shapiro.

Watch: Årabrot Release Video For 'Maldoror's Love'

The Norwegian Grammy award-winning band, Årabrot returned in September with their most astounding piece of Norwegian Art Rock to date; 'Who Do You Love'. Today sees the release of their video for 'Maldoror's Love', taken off the same album.

Årabrot carries all the hallmarks of a sonic spectrum that has always been a wide and wild field of purposeful mismatches, a world of friction between the noisy, the disharmony and the tension, with rivalling moments of harmonic relief.

Watch 'Maldoror's Love' below!

“Årabrot is in so many ways as much a travelling circus as a rock'n'roll unit. Captured here is the essence of the snake-handling, the Holy Mountain alchemy and the medicine show prophesies. Laukli and Laukli with the help of the amazing editing skills of Dave Hall have done a remarkable job catching the heart and soul of the Church of Årabrot” - Kjetil Nernes, vocal/ guitar/ composer & lyricist Årabrot

“Being fans of Årabrot,  we are always super excited to be able to work with them. Kjetil actually let us choose which song we wanted to film. After a quick listen we landed on Maldorors Love. We love the song, and also the misanthropic worldview put forth by Isidore Lucien Ducasse in Les Chants des Maldoror. The dark and strange content of the novel was an inspiration. There are also some visual nods to other artists that we know have influenced Årabrot in their work.”Paal Laukli, director/ camera from Laukli & Laukli

Why uShaka is Not a Suitable Venue For a Party

uShaka recently proposed an event, titled ‘Club 6 Feet Under’ - The Event is scheduled to take place on 26 October 2018.

That said, it leaves us with many questions as to why a Marine Facility would be left with such drastic decisions on catering for an event that has absolutely nothing to do with marine conservation and everything to do with alcohol-consuming adults being entertained in the deck of a shipwreck surrounded by common marine life. You heard me right. Fish, Sharks, starfish or echinoderm and sea anemones also classified under Actiniaria.

Many of these inhabitants of the aquarium are in fact sensitive to sound and lighting, hence why the aquarium’s lighting is set so low.

Introduce strobes and low-frequency noises and we have a problem.

Remember as children we are taught not to knock on the glass in aquariums or even our fishtanks at home. It’s rather sad these days that the aquariums today don’t even have these warning signs up, yet people fail to understand that sound and lighting can play a damaging role in marine life.

When selecting a suitable venue, we have to consider certain factors.

  1. Location

  • Usually in an abandoned warehouse if the music is going to be loud and most likely affect neighbours or in an industrial area near local nightlife venues that cater to noise factors. Many venues are happy to work with you if you ask!

  1. Parking

  • Parking is always a good thing to have, a car guard or secure parking. Paid parking is okay, as long as you are prepared to pay extra for the hours your car stands out in the parking.

  1. Acoustics

  • Honestly, an aquarium does not hold the right, safe environment for its local inhabitants, so how does uShaka propose protecting its marine life when sound can travel through glass and underwater faster and louder than in air.

  • Sound travels and sponge absorbs echo and not sound, Glass reflects sounds and often amplifies it through, water. Think of yourself dunking your head underwater in your tub and banging on your bath. Hear the difference now with your head outside of the water.

  1. Lighting

  • Once again, glass also reflects lighting and this can affect the short and long-term health of the inhabitants of an aquarium.

A quick online search lead to Quora and this is what we found in the discussion forum.

Link: quora.com

Don’t be fooled, when we say an Aquarium is a poorly planned venue for an event such as this, we speak the truth and we say, bad form on uShaka lying to the public and how exactly do they plan to manage and monitor the health of their local inhabitants at the aquarium?

With so many venues to choose from and since uShaka is a public entity and belongs to the city, why did uShaka not opt for a more suitable venue?

Why expose their local inhabitants to such extreme noise pollution when even in nature they are affected by passing by ships and sonar disturbances. Even Fracking is known to irritate Whales, Dolphins and Sharks.

We stress this to all of you, loud noise and strobes stress marine life and can kill them. Is this truly an event one should be having in the interest of conservation?

Some of our sources included are as follows.

Please sign this petition against the use of this facility for a party venue!

'DELETERIOUS' Debuts Online Today

Today sees the release of 'DELETERIOUS', a revenge film with a twist, directed by Babili Maseko.

'DELETERIOUS' is an action-packed drama about a father set on a vengeful rampage to find his missing daughter, supposedly held captive against her will by a Nigerian drug dealer named 'Happie'

Deleterious Finale1

Watch The Official Trailer below!

Our not so "Zen" protagonist's fuse is blown and the deleterious rampage of "shoot first, ask questions later" begins. With no idea or vague instinct of the chaotic, psychotic, distorted scene they're about to get pulled into, the three get a very rude awakening as the dutiful war veteran pursuing his quest to find his 'Sally'. bursts onto the scene demanding to know who's Happie? Answering him, they reply. “You are happy, he’s happy and everyone is happy”. This, of course, isn't the answer he'd been looking for.

Yet, things are not always as they appear, or how you personally may perceive them. That perhaps, sometimes it's best to err on the side of caution before things get DELETERIOUS.

"I'd like to thank Mr Henry Mccarter for investing money in them and believing in these young filmmakers still experimenting trying to find their voices as storytellers. We can have all these ideas as young creatives but without the right people and resources to make it happen, it means fuck ‘ol." - Babili Maseko

Babili Maseko is a Swazi born - South African Photographer and Independent Filmmaker. He's the Co-founder of The Blackmagician, a film production company based in Johannesburg. Babili started his creative arts studies at the Vega School of Photography and later enrolled for Film and TV production at City Varsity School of creative arts. ÅRABROT Release Video For 'Pygmalion'

Norwegian Grammy award-winning band, ÅRABROT returned in full force on the 7th September with their brand new album, titled, ‘Who Do You Love?’ released through Pelagic Records.

Today (Wednesday 12th September) sees the release of the video, ‘Pygmalion’ taken off the album ‘Who Do You Love?’.

ÅRABROT carry on the hallmarks of a sonic spectrum that has always been a wide and wild field of purposeful mismatches, a world of friction between the noisy, the disharmony and the tension, with rivalling moments of harmonic relief.

"'Pygmalion' fell in love with his statue. The song 'Pygmalion' is inspired by a vision of figures come alive in a garden in France. Terrible figures that give birth to terrible visions. It sounds like Årabrot at their most tender, but is it really?"

Set and Setting Premier 'Ecdysis'

American instrumental post-rock band SET AND SETTING premier their brand new single, 'Ecdysis', taken from their fourth album 'Tabula Rasa' which will be available for purchase on the 12th October via Pelagic Records.

Watch 'Ecdysis' below!

SET AND SETTING are a young band from St. Petersburg, Florida who merge instrumental rock with a thick metallic edge and elements of drone and ambient music.
"The result is a captivating, wordless, genre amalgam", Decibel raved, and Brookly Vegan defined their sound as "metallic chug to trippy psychedelia to soaring post-rock beauty... like Russian Circles teaming with early Pink Floyd“.

The quartet has been very active, since their debut album, 'Equanimity' in 2013, throughout the underground and extreme music scenes in the U.S. and Canada. In 2014, SET AND SETTING then released their second album, 'A Vivid Memory' via Prosthetic Records and continued to tour internationally and locally with bands such as Mouth of the Architect, EyeHateGod, Inter Arma, and Kayo Dot throughout 2015.

Live performances, writing and recording were limited during 2016 while battling injuries within the band.

SET AND SETTING released their third full-length album in 2017, 'Reflectionless', and toured Europe for the first time, including an appearance at Dunk! Festival

SET AND SETTING are now returning with their 4th album, 'Tabula Rasa', the band's heaviest album to date and their debut on Pelagic Records. "We purposely tried to extend the boundaries of our sound by adding more extreme metal and punk influences all while still sounding like ourselves“, guitarist Shane Handall comments.

“When we were writing this album, we had a new lineup and felt a new energy. We named this song Ecdysis because it felt like we were shedding old skin and pushing new boundaries we haven't reached yet.”

The album was recorded and mixed during 10 straight days in Miami, FL by Ryan Haft (Torche, Wrong).

SET AND SETTING are returning to Europe this October 2018 as part of the PELAGIC ROADFEST, with label mates, ABRAHAM and FUTURE USSES.
