If you missed Francois van Coke en Vriende last night at the Sun Arena at Times Square, you missed out on a key milestone in South African Music History. For some time, we knew this was going to be something extra special … but what majestically unfolded in front of a sold-out 8,500 audience in Pretoria Time Square, far exceeded all expectations and set a new standard in local entertainment. It also affirmed the fact that our lekker local is better than ever! This legendary extravaganza was the brainchild of Fokofpolisiekar (Wynand Myburgh and Francois van Coke) and expertly executed with Andy Mac’s Amp Events Team (ever-raising the bar in local rock shows).
To say that the crowd went wild would be an understatement, as they literally went BOS! For almost 3 hours, Francois van Coke treated the audience to non-stop hits from all of his bands and friend-collaborations, inclusive of local royalty like (Aking), Pierre Greeff (Die Heuwels Fantasties), Jack Parow, Arno Carstens (Springbok Nude Girls), Karen Zoid, Majozi, Coenie De Villiers and Earl Swartz (Early B).
The sound was superb and the lighting on point! With artists, events and promoters like these, no wonder international territories are standing up and taking note of South Africa. Well done and special thanks to Wynand Myburgh, Francois van Coke, Louise Crouse, Andy Mack & Amp Events.
