Climate Control Release New Single, ‘Master of None’

2020 served up an opportunity for Johannesburg-based South African alternative-rock outfit Climate Control to make use of the extra time resulting from the Lockdowns amidst a global pandemic. With the three-piece no longer able to write or record together in the same space, they shifted gears to create a series of singles as a kind of “lockdown project”, taking all elements of the process into their own hands by self-producing the new music and lyric videos, albeit remotely. The band has now served up their second of this series of four singles, the emotive and powerful 'Master of None'.

All things are finite and fleeting. Master of None is about how, before we know it, things will have passed us by, and emphasizes the importance of being present and appreciative. It’s a release that’s close to the members’ hearts, who took great care in creating the textures and layers throughout the track and aimed to capture melodies that were equally memorable and impactful. A unique lyric/live video has accompanied the single.

Master of None is available on all digital platforms including:

Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, YouTube Music, Bandcamp, Tidal, Amazon Music

Over the years, Climate Control have never allowed genre labels to define their sound. As their songwriting and style strengthened, so did their love of merging elements from various styles to create something distinctive and rooted in melody, while never losing the passion and desperation of their earlier, heavier ingredients.

With energetic live performances and a flair for dramatic aural ventures, the band merges the vigour of alternative rock, hooky and addictive pop sensibilities and the force of post-hardcore into one mesmerising sonic showcase. Over recent years they have shared the stage with international artists such as Our Last Night, Hands Like Houses, Crown the Empire, and performing at major local festivals such as RAMfest and Krank’d Up.

The band’s previous singles 'Tidal Wave', 'Ghosts', and 'Little Mess' charted within the top 4 in the South African iTunes Rock Chart upon release, with the former having featured on renowned YouTube blogger Jarrod Alonge’s channel, and had their single 'Little Mess' play-listed on 947 & KFM. Their new material follows their 2018 self-produced and released a sophomore full-length album, Equals Not.

Climate Control will release three more singles later in 2020.
