Anyone for lasagna? If you hate Mondays, love naps and generally believe that cats rule the world, don’t miss Chris Pratt voicing Jim Davis’s beloved cartoon kitty in The Garfield Movie, which premieres on DStv Box Office on August 2, 2024. 

Brought to you by Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Garfield Movie is an animated adventure comedy based on the cartoon strip first published in 1976 about a lazy, wisecracking orange tabby cat named Garfield, his owner Jon Arbuckle, and his canine sidekick Odie.

In the movie, Garfield (Pratt) is forced out of his pampered indoor lifestyle and onto the streets when he is reunited with his long-lost father, a scruffy street cat named Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson), for a wild outdoor adventure.

The father-and-son odd couple are joined by Odie (Harvey Guillén) for a high-stakes milk heist under the command of a ruthless Persian cat named Jinx (Hannah Waddingham). Other characters are voiced by an all-star cast, including Snoop Dogg, Nicholas Hoult, Ving Rhames, Janelle James and Jeff Foxworthy.

Garfield creator Jim Davis, who is also an executive producer on the film, said that Pratt’s casting as Garfield perfectly captures all sides of the well-known feline character, including his deadpan humour and sarcasm.

The Guardian called The Garfield Movie “a fun and frantic feline adventure [that’s] the cat’s whiskers,"  applauding the film’s energy and sharp comedy.
