Nomadic Orchestra is a five-piece brass dance band, based in Cape Town, South Africa. The primary goal of the Nomads, as they’re affectionately referred to, is to get people moving. The band plays an infectious kind of high-energy dance music guaranteed to get feet tapping and limbs flailing.
Today sees the release of the video for their recently released single, ‘Out & About’. The animated video which was done by Cape Town-based illustrator Martinus Van Tee, also responsible for the single’s artwork fits the mood of the uplifting track perfectly.
“Making things light is what we do best, but making light of the last couple of years has been really tough, to say the least. We had to focus on the future with some optimism and hope, waiting for a world full of living, dancing, and laughing to return.” Explains vocalist Gabriel Du Toit on the inspiration behind the track.
“For us, memories of the hustle and bustle of Cape Town nightlife was something we held firmly in our hearts and minds, and this gave us the energy to create something new and keep the light shining bright in SA’s music scene.”
It’s tough to sometimes place the band’s music, with elements of Afro-Balkan, Jazz, Punk, Rock, Hip Hop and everything in-between. One thing, however, is for certain, and that is that they are the ultimate party starters and as such have played pretty much every prominent music festival in SA, as well as one very successful European tour!
The song is also the title track from their upcoming album, set for release in February 2022 via STFD Records.
