Jasper Dan A Southern Fling Album PK

The South will rise again!

The sound of heavy blues and some honky tonk. Best described as an honest piece of good old Cornel Saunders southern fried chicken. Add a rebel flag and a bottle of No.7 Jack Daniels and you get a "Southern Fling".

This debut album is written from real life experiences and Jamie has a unique style of song writing that includes a "A-ha!" moment  when lyrics were written on a barf bag during a flight from Namibia. If you want to know the background of each song, best you indulge Jamie and the band for some “Jasper Dan time”.

This album was my road trip favourite during the December holidays. Definitely an album that gets your feet stomping and your head bopping.

“It’s been a pretty eventful year for us to say the least,” says Jamie Hendry, frontman of Joburg based Southern Rock outfit Jasper Dan. “Looking back we had our first originals only set on Thursday 5 November 2015 at Rumours Lounge. Our next gig we opened for Wonderboom and Crash Car Burn at the same venue on 28 November so it seems only fitting to be launching our album, A Southern Fling a year later at the place where it all started. We’ve had an awesome year filled with ups and downs and arguably everything a career in music could hand you. The launch of A Southern Fling finished off the year in the best way we could have imagined.”

The album contains a good mix of Southern Rock influences entrenched in all those Jasper Dan songs which have become favourites with their steady following. The album is produced by revered South African musician and producer Mark Beling who describes the recording of the album as his most enjoyable studio experience to date.

The album launched on 12 November 2016.

We love this album and welcome this new genre to the SA music scene.
