Johannesburg, 13 June 2025 — Eastgate Shopping Centre is inviting young adventurers to soar into the mythical world of How to Train Your Dragon with an exclusive themed activation this Youth Day weekend.

Running from Saturday, 14 June to Monday, 16 June, the experience coincides with the much-anticipated live-action How to Train Your Dragon release at Ster-Kinekor IMAX Eastgate. Hosted at the Centre Court outside Woolworths, this immersive, interactive setup promises an exhilarating treat for fans of the beloved franchise.

Children will be able to participate in Viking-inspired games, capture moments at a themed photobooth, and dive into the “fly like a Viking dragon rider” virtual reality experience. An added activity allows them to write their names in ancient Norse runes on a ‘postcard from Berk’.

Entry is free, with trained supervisors onsite. However, children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

“At Eastgate, we’re committed to creating memorable experiences for our younger shoppers, especially those linked to iconic family movies. Our blend of entertainment and retail makes us a destination of choice for families over long weekends. We look forward to welcoming all aspiring dragon riders this Youth Day weekend.”
