US hard rock band Villain Press have released their debut EP, No Return, via Golden Robot Records. The four-track release delivers a dose of raw, unapologetic rock ’n’ roll.
The project brings together musician and The Rock N Roll & Coffee Show host Joe Punk with vocalist Jason McMaster (Dangerous Toys, Dirty Looks), drummer and producer Adam Hamilton (L.A. Guns) and guitarist Paul Lidel (Dirty Looks, Dangerous Toys).
Following the release of lead single ‘Race To Be Dead’, No Return builds on its high-energy approach with gritty riffs, pounding rhythms and snarling vocals, drawing on the attitude of classic hard rock while adding a modern edge.
The project began in 2021 when Joe returned to writing and recording original music. Having connected with McMaster, Hamilton and Lidel through his podcast, the collaboration developed naturally. The musicians had previously worked together under the Villain Press name for a 2022 cover of Judas Priest’s ‘You’ve Got Another Thing Coming’ before moving on to original material.
Describing the sound of No Return, Joe Punk says: “It’s got that classic hard rock and sleaze attitude, but with our own modern edge. It’s kind of like if AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses and Buckcherry collided, got thrown into a dirty bar, and decided to start a band.”
Across its four tracks, No Return leans into the riffs, swagger, and unrestrained energy that define the genre, with ‘Race To Be Dead’ setting the tone for the band’s debut release.
